Marella has confirmed it will remove all pre-cruise testing for most international departures from next month.

The TUI-owned cruise line said it will ‘continue to follow local guidance accordingly’.

It is removing all pre-departure testing for departures from October, except for Greece.

However, under Greek law for all cruise ships, customers must be tested by a medical professional at the port terminal before boarding.

In order to minimise the risk of cruise-goers testing positive on arrival and having to quarantine in Greece, guests sailing from Corfu and aged two and over are still obliged to complete an antigen test the day before boarding.

Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruise for TUI UK & Ireland said: “As always, our customers are our number one priority, and the relaxation of these rules means our guests can enjoy a simpler process pre-travel, without having to spend any additional costs.

“We look forward to continuing to welcome both new and existing customers onboard our ships for our winter 2022 and summer 2023 itineraries.”
