Iceland’s new low-cost carrier, PLAY, will launch transatlantic flights from Stansted in April, with tickets on sale from today.

Services to Baltimore/Washington International Airport start on 20 April 2022, with a service to Boston Logan International starting on 11 May.

One-way prices start at £169. A special launch offer price of £139 is available for the outbound leg on bookings until 24 December 2021 for flights between April-June and September-October next year.

The prices include taxes, fees and carrier charges.

Transatlantic flights to Baltimore/Washington will depart from Stansted four times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) with a stopover of 1 hour 25 minutes in Reykjavik.

Flights to Boston will also depart four times a week, with a stopover of almost two hours.

PLAY said its ‘pay-for-what-you-need’ model keeps its fares affordable.

A personal item is included for the flight, and passengers can choose which upgrades they need for their trip, such as a carry-on, checked bag, special bags for items such as golf sets, skis, buggies, and musical instruments, seats with extra legroom and cancel protection.

PLAY CEO Birgir Jónsson said: “With our reliable and affordable flights, travellers can enjoy their holiday destination rather than overspending on the flight to get there.”
