C I Travel Group , which sells holidays to Jersey and Guernsey, has announced the closure of its trade brand, Airways Holidays.

The 40-year-old operator made the announcement on the Airways Holidays website.

It said it will continue to sell holidays direct, through JerseyTravel and GuernseyTravel.

MD Robert Mackenzie told Travel Gossip: “We are very sad not to be continuing our relationship with retailers. We appreciated their support over the years and wish them well for the future.”

He said the closure of Airways was a commercial decision, which was in part due to the post-COVID recovery of retail sales versus direct business as well as the costs of working with retailers.

A spokeswoman at CI Travel said: “We’re just closing that part of the business but all holidays booked through Airways Travel will go ahead as planned – anything booked for next year will be fine.”

“Any existing bookings made for travel from November 1 onwards will continue to operate as planned but new bookings will no longer be accepted,” confirmed a statement on the Airways website.

“All of us at Airways Holidays would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our travel agent partners and their teams for their support over the past years,” the statement added.

Airways Holidays had been providing holidays to the Channel Islands for over 30 years.
