Luton says passengers will benefit from faster security processing times this summer after becoming the latest airport to install 3D scanners.

It means that passengers will be able to leave liquids and electronics in their hand luggage as they pass through the machines.

However, due to Government imposed restrictions on all airports, passengers still won’t be able to take containers carrying more than 100ml of liquids in their hand luggage.

Luton said all of its security lanes are now equipped with the new scanners, which Chief Operations Officer Neil Thompson said will ‘significantly elevate’ the service provided to passengers, including faster processing times.

The airport also testing a new free service which allows passengers arriving at the airport between 3am and 4.30am to prebook a 10-minute security slot up to four days to an hour before travelling.
