Travel Counsellors is reporting booking figures are currently higher than pre-pandemic levels, with departures for December 2021 and January 2022 boosting sales.

The company says most leisure bookings made last week were for January 2022 departures, with the US and Spain each accounting for 12% of all January bookings.

Barbados and the UAE each accounted for 9% of all bookings last week.

Travel Counsellors said last-minute departures for December 2021 are also performing well, with Finnish Lapland the most popular family holiday break.

Leisure bookings for the week beginning 8 November were at 135% compared to pre-pandemic levels, while corporate bookings were at 87%.

Travel Counsellors Global Sales Director Jim Eastwood said: “As consumer confidence continues to rise, the demand for holidays keeps growing week by week – and our trading figures are just a reflection of that resurgence.

“Moreover, as well as exceeding our leisure travel trading figures, we have also seen a 30% increase in our leisure customers in the last month, which shows that trusted travel advice is now more important than ever.”
