King Charles has reportedly blocked Heathrow’s plan to rename Terminal 5 after him ahead of his coronation next week.

Heathrow T2 was renamed The Queen’s Terminal after his late mother in 2014, but the King has apparently refused Heathrow’s request to rename T5.

Some reports suggest this was due to his environmental concerns, others that royals only permit buildings with which they have a close connection to bear their name.

The Times has reported that the King asked Government minister to reject Heathrow’s offer.

Instead, the airport intends to mark the King’s coronation with a commemorative cardboard luggage tag (pictured).

Designed by artist Morag Myerscough, some 12,000 of the tags will be handed out to passengers from 1-10 May, one for each flight due to arrive or depart from the airport during that 10-day period.
