A Jet2 flight from Manchester to Bodrum in Turkey returned to Manchester yesterday around 45 minutes after take-off.
Flight LS983 had only got as far as the Netherlands when the Boeing 757 did a u-turn.
The flight, which had left Manchester at 16.15 on Thursday, is understood to have landed safely back at the airport.
Passengers waiting for the return flight, which was due to leave Bodrum at 23.30 on Thursday, were left stranded at the Turkish airport.
One agent said clients had been waiting more than 16 hours in Bodrum for the return flight, but the airline hadn’t told them the cause of the long delay.
Travel Gossip has approached Jet2 for a comment, but so far the airline has not provided an explanation.
