Kuoni Marketing Director Dean Harvey said he’s leaving the brand ‘in great shape’ but added: “It’s been hard the last few years for us all.”

He said that he is still considering his next steps, adding that he needs to ‘take a bit of time to decompress’.

Dean announced last week that he would be leaving Kuoni, just three months after the departure of long-time CEO Derek Jones and days before the appointment of new Managing Director Mark Duguid.

In a Linkedin post, Dean wrote: “After an incredible nearly seven years at Kuoni UK (where did that time go?), I’d like to acknowledge the people who’ve made my work life so enjoyable, an amazing boardroom set of peers but most of all, the whole marketing team.

“I’ve been lucky to work with and nurture such a talented team and I’ve been proud to lead our creative work which has resulted in so many awards, most notably Travel Brand of the Year and Marketing Team of the year in the Chartered Institute of Marketing Travel Group | CIM TG Marketing Awards and being voted Luxury Tour Operator of the Year by readers of the News UK Times and Sunday Times.

“Not only that, Kuoni emerged from the pandemic as one of the most trusted brands in travel, with recognition from Which? as a Recommended Provider. Our stellar YouGov stats back that up.”

However, he added that ‘it felt like the right time to go, the brand is in great shape, but it’s been hard the last few years for us all – I wanted to steer the marketing team through the pandemic and now we’re all set, just the small matter of getting our major peaks campaign out of the door! We’re nearly there and I’ll leave on 31 December’.

“Then I’ll come up for some air! Take a bit of time to decompress. I love working in this industry. As I’m thinking through my next steps, it would be great to catch up with people in January to chat.”
