Major travel companies are claiming brisk business since the start of Peaks, with bookings higher or at least on a par with 2020, before the pandemic.

Barrhead Travel said last Saturday was its best ever for sales, surpassing ‘Sunshine Saturday’ in 2020.

It follows a claim from Hays Travel that bookings on Saturday were five times higher than the same time last year.

Both travel companies described excellent bookings for the whole of Peaks so far.

Early indicators from a Travel Gossip Facebook poll suggest the vast majority of independent agents agree.

So far, 79% of those who’ve voted in Travel Gossip’s poll say bookings have been ‘superb’.

However, almost 10% so far describe sales as ‘disappointing’ and 13% said bookings have been ‘good, but not great’.
