An investigation has been launched at London’s Heathrow Airport after a female baggage handler was injured when her scarf caught in a conveyor belt.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to hospital following the incident on Valentine’s Day.

A spokesperson for her employers, Menzies Aviation, said this morning:  “We are aware of an incident involving a Menzies employee at Heathrow Airport and we can confirm that the employee is currently in hospital receiving treatment.

“Our thoughts are with our employee and their family. We cannot provide any further detail at this stage.”

Media outlets have reported that the woman, who is a senior employee, was dragged along by a conveyor belt that was transporting bags from Loganair flight 82WR at Heathrow Terminal 2.

The Health & Safety Executive has launched an investigation, they said.

Travel Gossip has contacted Heathrow Airport for a comment.
