Hotelplan says its team is ‘working round the clock’ to get its UK brands fully operational again following a cyber attack at the weekend.

Brands affected include Inghams, Explore Worldwide, Inntravel, Esprit Ski and Santa’s Lapland.

Disruption began on Saturday morning and Hotelplan said its initial investigations have revealed this was caused by a cyber security incident.

As a result, it said it has isolated and shut down key systems. A spokesperson said phone lines and customer services are up and running and all booked customers are travelling normally.

The phone lines had initially been shut down as a precaution, but have since been restored.

The spokesperson added: “Our team is working round the clock to get all of our brands fully operational again so we can resume the level of service that our agents, partners and customers expect from us.”

UK CEO Joe Ponte said an investigation is being carried out in parallel to understand the precise scope and nature of the disruption.

He added: “We are implementing workarounds to minimise the disruption to our customers, partners and suppliers, however, please note that you may experience some delays over the coming days.

“Please bear with us. We are working hard to resume the level of service that you expect from us and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.”

Hotelplan said the disruption is not having any impact on holidays and trips that are already booked. Customers are departing as normal.

“Travel agents, suppliers, partners and customers can contact us via their normal channels,” it added.

“Again, we apologise for any inconvenience, but we take cyber security very seriously and resolving this incident remains our top priority.”

Hotelplan said systems for each of its different brands might become fully operational at different points in time.

“We aim to be fully operational again soon but will let you know if there is any additional information in the meantime,” added Joe.

“We greatly value the relationships we have with all our partners; and thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.”
