Industry colleagues have paid tribute to former Global Travel Group Managing Director Andy Stark, who died this morning aged 57.
His former colleague Cherie Richards (pictured, with Mr Stark), who worked with him at Global Travel Group, where she was Commercial Director, said she’d been contacted by many Global members.
Cherie, who is now Chief of Staff at Not Just Travel, said: “He was a kind and caring man who will be missed by so many.
“I’m heartbroken for his family and friends. I’ve received so many messages from Global members who are truly shocked by the news.”
She added: “So many memories made with you and with our Global members and employees too. To my dear friend, you will be missed by so many.
“Rest peacefully Andy.”
Mr Stark worked for First Choice for 20 years, then moved to Stella Travel Services, which was later bought by dnata. He ran Global Travel Group from 2012 until January 2021.
Dnata Travel Group CEO Ailsa Pollard said: “The whole dnata Travel Group family is saddened to hear of Andy’s passing.
“His leadership, industry knowledge and humour were all highly valued during his time with us, first of all with Stella Travel Services and since 2012 as Managing Director of The Global Travel Group.
“Our sympathies are with his family and everyone across the industry who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
G Adventures EMEA Managing Director Brian Young posted a picture of Mr Stark on Twitter, describing him as ‘a true friend and colleague’ and saying: “I will miss this cheeky smile.”
“Our days back in Corfu together and in the UK so many memories such a sad loss.
“He was for sure one of the good guys. Thoughts are with his wife and son, will miss you mate.”
