A strike at Heathrow airport over the Easter holidays has been postponed.

More than160 baggage maintenance engineers were due to walk out on 8, 9 and 10 April.

However, the staff have postponed their industry action to vote on a new pay offer from Vanderlande Industries.

Their union, Unite, said the strikes will be rescheduled if workers reject the deal.

Any strike will hit all airlines at Heathrow, including British Airways, KLM, Air France and Lufthansa, it said.

Unite Regional Officer Lindsey Olliver said: During negotiations last week held under the auspices of the conciliation service ACAS, Vanderlande put forward a new offer.

Over the next two weeks, Unite will be balloting our members on whether it meets their aspirations.”
