Direct-sell domestic operator Haven has bought its first new holiday park in six years following the growth in staycations.
The purchase follows the company’s acquisition by investment group Blackstone last year, during which it also stopped selling through travel agents along with its sister brands Butlin’s and Warner Leisure Hotels.
It has bought Richmond Holiday Centre in Skegness from its previous family owners, who have provided thousands of families with holidays and holiday home ownership in the area for over 50 years.
Richmond will become Haven’s 41st park, but parent company Bourne Leisure said it is continuing to expore other potential holiday locations.
In the meantime, it said it is planning further investment in the Lincolnshire coastal park, which has over 700 pitches.
It also has a range of leisure facilities from pools to restaurants and entertainment venues.
“We believe the acquisition of Richmond Holiday Centre provides us with a fantastic platform to move into one of the UK’s prime seaside locations for the first time and clearly demonstrates our commitment to the domestic tourism industry,” said Simon Palethorpe, Haven MD.
Richmond will continue to trade under its existing name and website for the 2022 season.
