Atlantic Airways will operate a service between Gatwick Airport and the Faroe Islands this summer.

The flights will operate to and from Vagar Airport every Tuesday and Saturday from 1 June to 31 August.

Flights to the North Atlantic archipelago, located halfway between Iceland and Norway, will take just over two hours, operating on Airbus A320 aircraft.

Atlantic Airways already operates direct flights between the Faroe Islands and Edinburgh.

Until the Gatwick route launches, reaching the Faroe Islands from London requires taking at least two flights and stopping in cities such as Edinburgh or Copenhagen.

Fares start from £120 one-way and are on sale now.
