Heavy snowfall has forced the cancellation of almost 1,000 flights across Greece and Turkey over the past two days.

Istanbul Airport, pictured, has seen the greatest disruption with 416 flights grounded on Sunday and Monday, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.

Meanwhile, Athens Airport cancelled 116 flights yesterday, while no service operated at all from summer sun hotspot Mykonos.

In total, Cirium reported the cancellation 943 flights.

Airports in the region reported improving conditions this afternoon.
