The UK Foreign Office has again updated its travel advice to Italy to include details of a new entry fee to Venice in the new year.
An entry fee for day-trippers to Venice or people on short stays is being introduced from 16 January 2023. The Foreign Office had originally said the fee would be introduced next summer, but has since updated its advice to include the new start date.
The FCDO’s update says: “From 16 January 2023, visitors to Venice who have not booked accommodation in the city or surrounding islands will face a separate entry fee of between 3 and 10 euros. Non-compliance may result in a fine of up to 300 euros. Visitors and cruise ship passengers should check with their travel operator whether the fee is included.”
