The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has told Brits to check with their tour operator or accommodation provider before travelling to the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.
Around a thousand people have been evacuated in the region after torrential rain caused severe flooding on Wednesday, according to local reports.
The FCDO’s updated advice says: “Severe flooding is currently affecting the region of Emilia-Romagna. There can be risks around riverbanks, green areas affected by flooding and stagnant water.
“The rail services between Faenza and Forli and Porto Maggiore and Ravenna are suspended.
“Check with your tour operator or accommodation provider before you travel and follow the instructions of local authorities.”
It advises Brits to check the Ferrovie dello Stato and Civil Protection Department (CPD) websites for more information. The CPD site is in Italian only.
