Travel Gossip’s weekly roundup of the things we learned about the UK travel industry this week:
Lastminute.com is seeking a new CEO, due to the fact that its existing CEO is in police custody. Fabio Cannavale and two other top executives were arrested in connection with a probe into possible misuse of pandemic bailout funds. The company said it is confident of no wrongdoing.
There’s a TikTok hack to skip airport queues. Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye let the cat out of the bag this week when he said that users of the social media platform were being told to pretend to need wheelchair assistance to get through the airport faster.
Holidaymakers are STILL holding on to £54m in unspent Refund Credit Notes, whose expiry date is rapidly approaching. Maybe they’ve forgotten they have them, maybe they’ve dropped them down the sofa, who knows, but that’s an awful lot of cash about to go up in smoke.
Travel Gossip will be hosting 30 – yes THIRTY – roadshows next year. Can you tell we’re pretty excited? Check out this link to see if we’re coming to a town near you.
Even the unluckiest people can still be winners, just ask Hays agent Richard Farmer who has the keys to a shiny new Hyundai after his luck changed – at last.
