A famous hotel which once welcomed the Dalai Lama, Audrey Hepburn and John F.Kennedy is suing a couple who stayed for two years without paying the bill.

The 60-year-old man and his wife, who have not been named for legal reasons, are being sued for €230,000 by the Nassauer Hof hotel in Wiesbaden, Germany.

In 2019, the couple reportedly paid €5,600 up front before moving into the hotel, where rooms cost from €250 a night. They also brought their dog.

When he was presented with his bills, the man said he had cancer, which prompted the hotel to ‘leave the couple in peace’, The Times reported.

The situation only changed in December 2021 when a new director took over, evicted the couple and took them to court in a fraud trial that started last week.

The man has reportedly admitted he is unable to pay €145,000 in accommodation costs plus €92,000 for extras.

However, according to reports, he highlighted ‘grave shortcomings’ in the hotel.
