A new airline, which says it is close to starting non-stop flights between the UK and India this autumn, has appointed a former Virgin Atlantic executive to the board.
Hans Airways is in the process of obtaining an Air Operator Certificate from the CAA.
The new board members are Non-Executive Chairman Ruchir Verma, an entrepreneur with experience of helping start-ups and Non-Exec Director Barry Humphreys, a long-serving aviation executive, who has been Director of External Affairs and Route Development at Virgin Atlantic and Non-Exec Chairman of Airlines UK when it was known as the British Air Transport Association.
Two other non-execs, Jane Middleton, who has been Chairman of Airline UK for the last six years, and Dr Peter Malanik, ex-CEO of Austrian Airlines, complete the line-up.
CEO and Founder Satnam Saini said: “We look forward to making further announcements soon about the structure of our senior management team, again with pertinent airline experience being a cornerstone of our recruitment policy.”
Hans Airways completed its second round of equity financing this spring.
The company issued a statement at the time to say: “While the COVID epidemic has delayed the start of services, there is ample evidence of substantial pent-up demand once travel is possible.”
