Two Eurostar trains were cancelled and several more have been delayed by up to an hour this morning following yesterday’s more widespread disruption on the cross-Channel train service.

Damage to overhead wires between Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International caused several trains to be cancelled on Tuesday and many more were delayed by up to four hours.

Passengers with tickets were urged not to travel unless essential.

While most services appear to be operating normally today, the 05.59 to Paris from St Pancras and the O.6.16 to Brussels and Amsterdam were cancelled and several other early morning trains both to and from continental Europe have been delayed by up to an hour.

Travelling to Belgium

Eurostar was also warning passengers travelling to Brussels today and tomorrow of disruption on local trains due to a rail strike in Belgium.

It said: “We will run a full timetable, but disruption is expected on local trains. If you have a connecting journey, allow extra time to travel to/from Brussels-Midi/Zuid and check with SNCB that your train is still running before you set off.”
