Security staff working on Eurostar have cancelled planned strikes for today and tomorrow – although the train company is still running a revised timetable over the next few days because of wider industrial action.

RMT staff working on the Eurostar security contract for Mitie have agreed to a new pay and conditions offer.

They had been due to walk on 22 and 23 December, but Eurostar said it had put provisions in place to ensure its services weren’t affected by that particular strike.

However, the operator will still be running a revised timetable on 23 and 24 December because of national strike action that will affect crew availability and opening hours on the UK railway network.

In addition, Eurostar announced last week that strike action by Network Rail staff meant no Eurostar trains will run on Boxing Day.

Eurostar is currently assessing the impact of new RMT strikes by Network Rail and 14 national train companies that have been scheduled for 3, 4, 6 and 7 January.

The train operator said it will contact passengers if their journey is affected by timetable changes.
