The wives and girlfriends of the England football team have left the MSC cruise ship that’s been hosting them for the last 10 days during the group stage of the World Cup.
MSC World Europa has been docked in Doha’s harbour and the England players’ families have been onboard since arriving in Qatar on November 20.
They’ve now left the ship, which the UK press has dubbed HMS WAG, for land-based luxury accommodation.
Some of them have moved to the Waldorf Astoria Lusail, which has a private beach, spa and eight restaurants, according to reports.
The Daily Mail reports: “After 10 nights aboard, the football stars’ families have relocated to sumptuous villas with private pools on the mainland or five-star hotels.”
According to the Mail, the WAGs ran up a £20,000 bar bill the night England beat Iran 6-2.
A Football Association source confirmed the WAGs had left the ship, adding it had always been the plan following the group stage of the tournament.
MSC declined to comment.
England play African champions Senegal on Sunday.
