EasyJet is launching a new route from the UK to Salerno on the Amalfi coast, making it the first UK airline to operate commercial flights to the airport.

It will fly twice weekly to Salerno from London Gatwick from 13 July.

EasyJet holidays will offer a range of packages to the Amalfi coast from next summer based on the new flights.

Salerno was previously a military airport and has only recently opened for commercial flights.

EasyJet has also announced that it will relaunch its service between Newcastle and Amsterdam, with seats also on sale today. 

Flights will start on 5 September and operate year-round on Thursdays and Sundays. 

In addition, the airline is extending its Belfast to Krakow service into the winter to offer year-round flights on the route.
