Border Force staff are being balloted on strike action at London’s Heathrow Airport, which could take place during the Easter holidays.

More than 600 Border Force members based at the airport are being asked by their union PCS if they are prepared to walk out in a dispute over shift patterns and working conditions.

The ballot runs until midday on 22 March and PCS is warning that if staff vote the strike it could cause long queues at Heathrow over Easter.

Since the union must give Heathrow management at least 14 days’ notice of any industrial action, the earliest staff could walk out would be 5 April.

The Easter school holidays run from around 29 March to 12 April.
