A strike by baggage handlers and check in staff that threatened to disrupt Wizz Air passengers over the Easter weekend has been called off.

Around 100 workers were due to walk out tomorrow until next Tuesday.

However, the strike was called off after the handling agent GH London Ground Handling Services agreed to provide sick pay to workers for the first time.

The company has also promised to compensate staff for ‘persistent’ payroll problems, said Unite.

GH has agreed to pay workers with at least a year’s service 13 weeks sick pay, with a mixture of full pay and half pay depending on their length of service.

Additionally, the company has agreed to pay workers £100 compensation if their pay is late.
