Viking Cruises has confirmed that a crew member died after falling from Viking Mars in the Scottish Highlands.
The man, in his 40s, fell from the ship while it was in the Port of Cromarty Firth in Invergordon last Friday morning.
He was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but Viking confirmed on Saturday that he had died.
In a statement, the cruise line said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm a crew member passed away following an incident in Scotland on 18 August.
“Our operations team is working with local authorities to determine how this occurred.”
