Two travel companies – a Swansea-based sports specialist and one of Ireland’s oldest agencies – have ceased trading.

ABTA-registered Team Tours Direct Ltd organised tournaments, coaching programmes and overseas sports tours, working with schools, academies and clubs.

It fell into difficulties after its complete portfolio for 2021 had to be cancelled as a result of COVID-19, according to a message on its website.

ABTA said all travel arrangements booked by Team Tours Direct Ltd were non-flight packages and are protected by ABTA or the customer’s credit or debit card issuer.

“Customers that have booked a package holiday provided by Team Tours Direct Ltd through a travel agent should contact the travel agent in the first instance for further advice and assistance as they may have made alternative arrangements for you,” ABTA said.

Meanwhile, one of Ireland’s oldest, largest and best-known travel agents and tour operators, Joe Walsh Tours, has closed down.

The Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR) said parent company Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd traded under 10 different brand names including Joe Walsh Tours.
