Forty agents will attend next week’s agent day at LATA Expo, as tourist boards and operators gear up for a resurgence in demand for the destination.

The Latin American Travel Association (LATA) event takes place in London from 13-15 June, with the agent day taking place on day two.

LATA chairman Colin Stewart said: “This is the first LATA Expo that will have an agent-specific day. It’s quite a significant event for the industry, especially the Latin America market airlines, hotels and tourist boards.

“It’s a chance for everyone to focus on developing the relationship we have with agents in the UK market.”

Colin said the 40 agents are made up of a ‘mix of those that are aware of selling Latin America and those that are completely new to the region’.

He said any agents not signed up but who would like to attend should contact LATA via the Expo website (below).

“If agents are still keen to attend we will do everything to try to get them in,” he said.

“It will be a fully immersive day, including education and training plus the opportunity to network.

“We hope it will be the first of many moving forward as we recognise that there is a gap in the market around Latin America.”

There will be 125 exhibitors at LATA Expo and the agent day will allow participants to meet up with tourist board representatives from four countries: Ecuador, Panama, Colombia and Belize as well as hear from four tour operators that specialise in the region.

They are: Journey Latin America, Latin Routes, Audley Travel and Explore Worldwide.

LATA Expo takes place at Battersea Evolution, London, from 13-15 June.
