The US is increasing the cost of its Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) by 50%.
The price for individuals will rise from $14 to $21, which is just under £17.
The increase was announced in the Federal Register, the US Government’s official publication on 20 May.
Business Travel News says it has received confirmation from US Customs and Border Protection that the increase will take effect on Thursday, 26 May.
An ESTA allows British citizens to travel to the US for up to 90 days at a time without a visa. ESTAs are valid for up to two years, or until an applicant’s passport expires.
