A hotel booking system couldn’t cope when science whizz Professor Brian Cox checked into the same property as his namesake – the famous actor.
Both men were booked to appear on BBC1’s Breakfast on Friday morning and the BBC had arranged accommodation for them the night before.
One of the Brian Coxes checked in at the hotel and he was told he had two rooms.
When he said one of the rooms was for the OTHER Brian Cox, he was told the hotel system couldn’t ‘have two Brian Coxes’ as it couldn’t handle two separate bookings under the same name.
It meant Professor Brian Cox had to use his assistant’s name to check in instead, after the person on the desk said had no idea who either of them were, telling them: “I don’t watch television.”
