Cruise association CLIA has postponed its national cruise week following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Cruise Week was due to start on Friday, 16 September and continue until 25 September.

However, the UK is in the middle of a 10-day mourning period for Her Majesty, who died last Thursday.

The late Queen’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, 19 September, which would have been three days after the start of Cruise Week.

Cruise Week typically includes a host of marketing and social media activities, but some travel companies have opted to suspend all promotions until after the funeral.

In a statement issued today, CLIA said: “In observance of the period of national mourning, we feel it is appropriate to postpone Cruise Week activity by one week, with the new dates now confirmed as Friday 23 September to Sunday 2 October.”
