Carnival has cancelled Jubilee’s maiden voyage from Southampton to the US in October next year, along with five cruises from Texas.
It blamed delays at the German shipyard and supply chain issues, which have slowed down the Excel-class ship’s construction.
Carnival Jubilee, which was due to debut on 30 October 2023, won’t now sail till two months later.
Its first cruise will now be a seven-day sailing from Galveston in Texas to the Western Caribbean on 23 December.
“This is disappointing news, but with the notification from the shipyard, we are advising our guests as quickly as we can,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.
“We appreciate their understanding as we work to deliver another spectacular ship that will provide a vacation experience our guests deserve and will absolutely love.”
Jubilee will be a sister ship to Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras.
Guests whose cruises have been cancelled will receive a refund plus 25% Future Cruise Credit, which must be used by 15 December 2023. If guests rebook by 10 February 2023, they will also receive an additional US $100 per person in onboard credit.
