The Canary Islands will extend the offer of free COVID insurance to tourists until 2022.

Travellers staying in regulated tourist accommodation will be able to get the free insurance ‘for the remaining months of 2021 and the beginning of 2022’, according to Lanzarote’s tourist board, Turismo Lanzarote.

The policy covers medical expenses, medical repatriation, and extension of stay in the event of COVID-19 infection.

The Canary Islands first introduced the free COVID insurance policy in summer 2020.
