Canada will remove all COVID-19 travel restrictions from 1 October.
It means that, from Saturday, international travellers – including those arriving by cruise ship – won’t need proof of vaccination and will not have to wear masks.
Canada has been more cautious than other countries on its lifting of restrictions.
Minister of Public Safety said: “Since the start, our Government has taken the necessary steps to keep Canadians safe in the face of a global pandemic. COVID-19 border measures were always meant to be temporary and we are making adjustments based on the current situation because that’s what Canadians expect.”
But the Government warned COVID is not over and Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said: “If anybody believes the pandemic is over, I invite them to visit a hospital.”
