A 58-year-old British holidaymaker has died after the mobility scooter she was riding plunged 65ft off a hillside in Benidorm.
According to reports, the woman was returning to her hotel after visiting the Benidorm Cross landmark with her husband and grandson when the accident happened.
It’s understood her hired mobility scooter smashed into a wooden barrier on a bend and she fell over the cliff edge in the Serra Gelada Natural Park.
Her husband, aged 60, needed medical attention after injuring himself trying to reach his wife and their grandson, who was also injured in the fall, was treated for cuts to his leg.
Officials said the family were on holiday and staying at a resort hotel.
Rescue workers spend two hours at the scene after the accident, late on Wednesday afternoon.
A Benidorm Town Hall spokesman said: “An investigation is ongoing but this is being treated as a tragic accident.”
