A British tourist has been arrested in Majorca after allegedly slicing off another holidaymaker’s ear during an argument over politics in a hotel bar.
Police arrested the 35-year-old man after they followed a trail of blood from the victim to the alleged attacker’s room, The Sun reports.
The victim went to hospital in the town of Manacor, with part of his right earlobe missing and a neck wound.
Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora said the injured man’s wife had told police the attack happened during a row between the men about politics in a hotel bar.
The incident at an unnamed hotel at Cala Egos beach in the east coast resort of Cala d’Or happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Local media said the suspect has been bailed after appearing before an investigating magistrate.
He was reportedly told he must pay £6,200 to recover his passport if he wanted to fly back to the UK from Spain on Tuesday (25 April).
