A strike by plane refuelers employed by Menzies Aviation at Birmingham Airport has been called off at the eleventh hour following an improved pay offer.
The workers were due to walkout today, which union Unite said would have created considerable disruption and delays across the airport.
However, the strike was cancelled after Menzies made a new offer of a 9% pay rise and a one-off payment of £750.
The company also offered to make temporary staff permanent, and upgrade its communications technology.
The members were balloted on the offer and it was accepted.
