British Airways plans to operate a normal schedule today after an IT outage caused cancellations and delays over the weekend.

The airline cancelled all short haul flights from Heathrow until midday on Saturday and, although it said long-haul flights from Heathrow, as well as services from Gatwick and London City, would operate, it warned there would be delays.

The disruption started after BA’s website and app became inaccessible for several hours on Friday evening.

BA said the problem was a hardware issue, not a cyber attack and apologised to customers.
