British Airways cancelled a flight from Barbados to Heathrow after one of its flight attendants reported she had been raped in a hotel.

Cabin crew were staying between flights at a £550-a-night hotel, said to be popular with honeymooners, when the alleged attack happened.

The BA crew are understood to have headed out for food and drinks before the woman was targeted.

Police have launched a criminal investigation into the attack and want to speak to an ex-pat, who lives on the Caribbean island, according to The Sun.

Airline bosses cancelled the flight to Heathrow this earlier month after the flight attendant reported the crime to the police.

They also sent their own investigators and support team to Barbados to be with staff members.

A source told The Sun: “This has been an unimaginable time for the stewardess and her flight colleague.”

It has been reported five colleagues gave statements at a local police station.

“BA bosses did not hesitate to cancel the flight home, despite the cost and inconvenience to passengers,” another source said.

BA told Travel Gossip: “This is a police matter and we’re supporting our colleagues at this time.”
