Swedish police have made an arrest in the case of two British travel agents who were found in a burnt-out car last month.

Farooq Abdulrazak, 37 and Juan Cifuentes, 33, were reported missing during a business trip to Denmark and Sweden. The pair’s hire car was found burnt out in Malmo and police later confirmed the business partners’ remains were in the vehicle.

Both were directors of Empire Holidays, a travel company in north London.

Swedish prosecutors issued a statement to say: “The prosecutor has today arrested a person on probable cause suspected of aiding and abetting the murder of two British citizens who were found dead in a burnt-out car in Malmö on 14 July this year.

“There will now be interrogations, both with the suspect and others.”

The authorities said investigations are continuing in Sweden and the UK and prosecutors have until Sunday 1 September to decide whether or not the suspect should remain in custody, Sky News reports.

Empire Holidays’ Facebook page says it specialises in budget holidays, hotels, honeymoons and transfers.
