US officials are advising Americans not to travel to France, Portugal, Cyprus, Andorra and Liechtenstein due to rising cases of coronavirus in all five nations.

In its latest update, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC) issued a Level 4, Do Not Travel warning for all five countries.

The CDC was already advising against travel to the UK and more than 70 other countries around the world.

It said that if US citizens must visit the five countries added to its Level 4 list, they should make sure they’re fully vaccinated.

Data from the World Health Organisation shows that France has seen almost 295,000 new COVID cases in the last seven days, Portugal has reported 24,080, Cyprus 3,558, Andorra 1,298 and Liechtenstein just 155.

France has also identified 25 cases of the Omicron variant and Portugal has detected 34, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, but it doesn’t have any data for the other three countries yet.
