Travel agents onboard Virgin Cruises’ Valiant Lady have praised the crew for providing assistance to migrants in the Med over the bank holiday weekend.
The ship was on its way to Ibiza when it stopped to provide assistance on Friday.
One agent posted on the Travel Gossip Facebook group to say the people on the boat requested food and water but did not want to be rescued.
He added: “The crew of Valiant Lady have been superb at dealing with the situation and keeping us informed.
“They’ve assessed the situation and offered any medical or other assistance required. They have put together food and water supplies for them and notified the Coastguard.”
Another agent onboard the ship said the crew was ‘brilliant, very professional, and ensured they were ok, and what help was needed’.
Another commented: “It felt incredibly sad seeing this happen for real.”
