Founder of The Honeymoon and Holiday Fixer Britt-Marie Monks was named Mentor of the Year by the Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE).
She received the award at the AWTE annual lunch at 8 Northumberland Avenue in central London.
Britt-Marie has recently expanded her team of homeworkers by 17, recruiting many mums who want to get back into work.
Other AWTE award winners included the founders of the Facebook group Back in Time for Bed, Vicky Billing and Anna Perrott, who received the Social Impact Award for raising awareness of the challenges faced by working parents.
Intrepid Travel Managing Director EMEA Zina Bencheikh received an Honorary Award for a woman who has ‘gone above and beyond’ for her work to make the travel industry more inclusive and Riviera Travel Channel Director Stuart Milan received the Ambassador Award for a man who actively supports women in business.
The Inclusion Award for a travel brand that has shown ‘outstanding’ commitment to equality went to Eesha Singh of No Footprints, while the Rising Star of the Year award went to Ella Dunham, Exsus Travel Marketing Manager.
At last week’s event, AWTE launched its partnership with SmartWorks, a charity which provides unemployed women with clothing and coaching to help them succeed with job interviews.
