An independent agent accused of defrauding hundreds of people in a £1.6m scam has appeared in court on charges of fraud and money laundering.

Lyne Barlow, previously of Stanley, County Durham, appeared via video link at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

She did not enter a plea and was granted unconditional bail to appear at Durham Crown Court on 3 October.

The 39-year-old was arrested in September 2020 after a probe into claims surrounding discount holidays.
