Off Broadway Travel, the agency in Grant Shapps’ constituency, which invited the Transport Secretary to visit, is still waiting to hear when he will come and speak to staff.
The independent, in Welwyn, tweeted an open invitation to Mr Shapps at the beginning of May, after his comment about travel agents being ‘a thing of the past’.
After that, local station Three Counties Radio asked the Minister whether he would take up the invite.
Mr Shapps replied that his people had already contacted Off Broadway Travel, but after the presenter said the agency hadn’t heard anything, Mr Shapps then promised his office would set up a visit.
But, over a fortnight later, the directors are still waiting for a call.
Off Broadway Travel Partner Paul Rice said: “We heard that Parliament is closed this week, so I doubt we’ll hear in the next few days.
“But when he is ready to visit, we will be here. The seat is still reserved for him. The cushions are plumped and we’re ready to welcome him in for a chat.”
