Welsh independent agency Bordessa Holidays has topped off its best year of sales so far with almost £200,000 of FIFA World Cup 2022 bookings in June.

Partners Mair Jones and Chris Bordessa, who run the agency, are marking their success by moving into a high street office this week, as the converted garage space they’ve been working from since 2014 is too small for their growing business.

The new office, in Carmarthen, will be big enough to fit in the six staff Bordessa Holidays has taken on since November.

The team (pictured above) is made up of former TUI call centre staff June Wilson and Pascal Neale; former Leger Holidays homeworker Candice Casey;  family member Stephen Bordessa; Mair’s Godson Jack Rummins and – the latest appointment – Curtis Evans, who is returning to travel after the pandemic as Sales Manager.

Also in the picture is Nicola Andrea, Business Development Manager at Jetset (third from left), who came to visit the team on the first day in their new office, on Tuesday.

Mair said: “We’ve had our best six months ever and each month we beat the previous best month.

“In June we made nearly £200,000 of FIFA World Cup bookings with Travelpack and I’ve made a great relationship with [Reservations Consultant] Faisal Farooq, who has helped me until midnight several times to get these bookings confirmed.

“That’s our best sales achievement on one sporting event.

“People are starting to realise that having an agent there for them is now more important than ever.

“We are still getting calls and messages from people who’ve booked holidays online but can’t contact their holiday provider and they now know how valuable our service is.”

For several years, Bordessa has sold coach trips from local pick-up points and last year introduced its own caravans in Trecco Bay. It has recently added a VIP hospitality box in Birmingham Arena to its portfolio.

“We’re able to sell guaranteed tickets straight away for all the concerts that are announced and the VIP box is doing really well,” added Mair.
