The Civil Aviation Authority says nearly 600 companies have renewed their ATOL but 50 have not reapplied for their licence in the March renewal process.
The number that confirmed they would not renew equates to 7% of the total number of ATOL holders whose licence ran out on 31 March.
Of the 675 ATOL licences that expired on 31 March 2022, 594 have been renewed, with a further 31 still in the process. Of those still in the process, 18 applied in the last 14 days.
Almost one in five – 123 businesses and 18% of the total – applied in the fortnight leading up to the 31 March deadline.
In total, there are now 1,618 ATOL holders, with 1,025 due to renew in September 2022.
