Around 100 travel agents have come forward to offer a spare desk for tour operator staff who are on the road.

Last month, agent group TARGET asked people to help out by offering a spare desk in their office, shop or home so suppliers on the road could catch up with emails, messages and calls throughout the day.

Co-Founder Jill Waite said: “Most reps and Business Development Managers calling at our shops have told us how hard it is to return calls, reply to emails and messages while they are on the road. We hope this initiative will help them.”

Co-Founder Graeme Brett added: “The response from agents has been amazing and really supportive.

“So far we have 100 travel agents involved and we hope that a few more will get involved in the New Year.

“As we all adapt to new ways of working, it is wonderful that so many agents have agreed to assist their colleagues ‘on the road’ in this way.”
